Arch Brace Jointed Cruck Green Oak Frame

Timber Buildings

Arched brace jointed cruck, familiar to many Dartmoor and Devon timber framers.

Traditionally found in cob and stone barns all over Devon, this roof was built around a chevron plan shaped first floor living space.

The internal corner of the chevron is the point where three jointed cruck posts combine with arch braces sweeping downwards.
